Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater's Artist-in-Residence program invites students to study Shakespeare through performance. Teaching Artists are professional theater artists with extensive teaching experience who work collaboratively with students in hands-on activities that address both the literary and performative aspects of the plays.

Meets PA standards for literacy, arts, and the humanities.

"Off the Page: A Morning with Charles Todd" at the Hockessin Public Library

Caroline and Charles Todd (writing as Charles Todd) will appear in Hockessin to talk about their work and sign copies of their newest book, A Lonely Death.

A Lonely Death, released in January, is the 13th book in the Todds' Ian Rutledge mystery series. The novel explores the effects of bullying and how the results of constant harassment can lead to the ultimate revenge. The New York Times Book Review wrote, "The tragic sweep of Charles Todd's historical mysteries grows more expansive with each successive novel in his stunning series."

Philadelphia Young Playwrights: Playwriting Workshop for Homeschoolers ages 10 - 13!

After two very successful programs for homeschooled teens this wonderful learning and growing opportunity is being offered to homeschoolers ages 10-13!

Cost:
$135 per participant for the entire 20 hours!
(that's $6.75 per hour)

Philadelphia Young Playwrights.

The Philadelphia Young Playwrights organization has been bringing the art of play writing to schools and community organizations in the Philadelphia area since 1987.

Since 2007 they have been offering this highly successful program to homeschooling teens. Students learning the art of play writing and performance, gain skills in literacy, writing, revision, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. The program also promotes the exchange of ideas, tolerance, diversity, community involvement and access to the arts. Self-esteem, a sense of individual and group responsibility will also be enhanced via this program.

Students write an original group-authored play during eight dynamic, hands-on workshops. Professional actors put the students' work-in-progress up on its feet as a means of generating feedback for revision and inspiring students' efforts. A final performance of their play is presented at the concluding festival which is open to the community and scheduled in the early evening.

In May of each year, Philadelphia Young Playwrights holds a festival where young
playwrights from all over the region submit their original work. Selected plays are performed in area theaters by professional actors. Each play submitted, even if not chosen for performance, is carefully reviewed by professional teachers and playwrights and returned with tremendous, positive feedback.

The play created during the workshop will b eligible for submission to the festival!

a class led by Faith Beckford from Love Your Fruits and Vegetables™ - or LyFVe™ (pronounced life) a premier GREEN caterer for kids.

The Poetry Slam is an event in which everyone may attend.

The cooking classes require registration and will be limited.
There will be two groups for the classes.
Ages 3-5 from 12:30 to 1:30 and ages 6 and up from 1:30 to 2:30.
The class size is limited to 12 people each

Please bring your lunch, drinks and snacks provided.

The Poetry Slam is ongoing from 12:30 to 2:30.
The Cooking classes are in two sessions:

The Poetry Slam will be for all ages and anyone can perform.
Materials:
Anyone attending and performing a piece during the Poetry Slam should be prepared to read a favorite rhyme and or verse.
Cooking Class participants just need to bring a healthy appetite. Faith will provide everything else that is needed.
