Art on the Town at DCCA!

MOVABLE FEAST

DCCA resident artists Hoyun Son and Jung A. Woo in collaboration with students from the Latin American Community Center (LACC) and the Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH) will present a "movable feast" during the Art on the Town celebration on Friday, Aug 5 from 5 - 9 pm. The LACC students have spent the last six weeks researching and gathering local edible weeds; collected, mapped, and illustrated recipes from family, friends, and neighbors; and designed a Feast Event to share with the public. a presentation of the Art & Community Visual Arts Residency Program.

This exhibit is part of the City of Wilmington's First Friday Art Loop!
A citywide event that takes place on the first Friday of every month - all year!

Delaware Art Museumt ~ Programs for Homeschoolers!


Story Club for Homeschoolers
Wednesdays
September 28, November 2, and December 7

10:00 a.m. – noon
$20 per session/$45 full (Discount does not apply.)

(Ages 9 – 14)

This exclusive new program for homeschoolers combines and connects literature with viewing and making art. During each session, homeschoolers will read and have lively discussions about a pre-assigned story related to artwork in the Museum’s collection, view and discuss related works of art, and express their creativity with a corresponding art project in the Museum’s studios.

September 28: Selected chapters from Long Live the King by Mary Roberts Rinehart
November 2: The Sleeping Beauty (Grimm’s Fairy Tales) and Saint George and the Dragon by Margaret Hodges;
December 7: Tales from King Arthur - The Drawing of the Sword by Andrew Lang.

Space is limited.
Supplies provided in class.
Selected readings will be provided via email.

Story Stretchers & Art
Wednesdays
September 14 – November 30
(10 weeks; no class September 28 & November 23)

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
$150 Members/$175 Non-Members

(Ages 5 – 8)

Each week, children will hear an exciting story and create a related work of art in the Children’s Studio. This is a wonderful opportunity for creative play and exploration with studio instruction for young homeschooled students.
Supplies provided in class.

Artist Studio for Homeschoolers
Wednesdays
September 14 – November 30
(10 weeks; no class September 28 & November 23)

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
$190 Members/$215 Non-Members

(Ages 9 – 14)

Students will learn the fundamentals of art in the Museum’s studio. Basic drawing, painting, and sculpting will be explored with a focus on processes and techniques. Art history discussions, which will include visits to the Museum’s galleries, will focus on artists in the collection. Students will learn creative techniques and develop an appreciation for art.
Supplies provided in class.
