New Children's Literacy Group

Literary Afternoons for Children ages 7-10 years
Debby Rosan believes learning happens best when it is meaningful and has social significance. By forming Literary Afternoons it is her goal to "create an environment of literacy where children may joyfully embrace the worlds of both reading and writing."

All Literary Afternoons group members will be encouraged to listen generously and work together cooperatively. Additionally, there will be a framework provided for working and thinking alone. Differentiated instruction will be provided according to the unique need of each particular learner. Experiences across the modalities will further enrich the learning experience.

A typical morning might include one or more of the following:

Reading aloud across disciplines
Mini-lessons – workshop approach
Guided reading/writing lessons/groups
Independent reading/writing groups
Phonics, spelling and word work, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary-building
