Ages 8 and up. Creative Writing is fun teaches children the importance of spelling, grammar and sentence construction. Each class will begin with the reading of exemplary children’s literature to allow the students to hear good writing while opening up their imaginations. Using this literature as a guide, students will learn about the mechanics of writing through the creation, development and revision of his or her own short stories. During the fall session, children will have the opportunity to create their own fairy tale, and write a biographical story. For a final project, students will choose, revise and then illustrate her or his best work to be part of our class “literary journal”.
Looking ahead: This class will continue in our winter session when we will focus on poetry.
